Snow Boarding
"Five years ago I got a job at Cardrona a s a liftie and had to learn really fast. Most of my friends boarded, so I just squeezed into the snow scene, something I have never regretted.
The best thing about snow boarding is standing on top of a mountain looking down on the rest of the world and laughing, knowing everyone is working while you're having fun. Also, the speed, I love the speed of snowboarding and the feeling of getting airborne. My most memorable ride was back in 2000 on a Cardrona powder day, when I did my first front flip. Winning the 1999 Peak to
Porridge surf/snow competition wasn't bad either."

Favourite area: Wanaka, Arthur's Pass and Mt Lyford (just 'cos it's home).

Surfing
Surfing is Leilani's true passion - it shows in the titles she has won. Most improved surfer (surfing NZ), current Women's South Island Champion, current Canterbury Champion, member of New Zealand Maori representative team 2003. Current South Island circuit champion and ranked 6 th on the New Zealand Pro circuit series, Won silver at the national varsity games 2004 and was 3 rd in the New Zealand national surfing championships 2004 (Malibu).
"Surfing is a natural addiction when you grow up in Kaikoura. Nearly every window you look out, it's there - the ocean, and it draws you in. Having the mountains as well is an extra bonus.

Most memorable ride: a 4-5ft barrel at Lakey Pipe, Indonesia . I was so scared but afterwards so stoked.
Favourite areas: Kaikoura, Ahipara, Banks Peninsula , Indonesia
Dream Area: Hawaii
