- Very warm and not heavy for the excellent quality and wind protection providing more warmth. As an outer layer it certainly keeps lower layers warm, down to the thighs but provides free movement, and comfort.

On a recent six day winter trip in the Tararua Ranges, my new Hydrophobia jacket performed well above expectations.
We suffered the usual array of Tararua conditions through the course of the trip, including a bitter southerly with snow, a gale nor' wester, rain, wet bush-bashing and waist-deep river travel. In all environments, the jacket performed superbly, giving me a sense of confidence that I haven't had with any other shell garment.
In particular, I am impressed with how completely wind and water-proof the Hydrophobia is, while still retaining enough breathability for comfortably climbing up hills. The jacket is extremely robust, and took a solid day of bush-bashing without any wear or tear while saving me a fair bit of skin. I love the little features such as the roomy pockets and breast pocket, and the hood is one of the best I've seen on a jacket. The materials are top-notch and the extra weight of the knee-length design is well worth it.
The Hydrophobia is now my 'go-to' jacket for the bush and non-technical alpine trips. It is PERFECT for New Zealand conditions and is a real credit to the attention to detail EarthSeaSky put into designing their garments. They are clearly 'practitioners' themselves who thoroughly test their own products, and all the little details incorporated into the jacket make for an excellent product. Well done and thanks!

- I've had my Hydrophobia for almost 3 years now and I still have no complaints. It has seen me weather torrential fiordland rain (no pun intended), protected me when pushing through some of the worst bush I have ever had the misfortune of entering, and has been with me to the top of a few mountains. I recently bought a zeal guide purely because I'm doing a bit more climbing now I wanted something that could fit a helmet and wear more easily with a harness. My hydrophobia is still my favourite bush tramping jacket though!
